Deliveries are expected to start by end-May, while the booking amount is ₹2 lakh.

The Jaguar XE has been the only model in the carmaker's India line-up that didn't offer a diesel engine. But, now there’s a new diesel variant and Jaguar has started accepting bookings for an amount of ₹2 lakh at select dealerships.

Under the hood sits JLR's 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel that makes 180hp, as on the XF sedan and F-Pace SUV. The XE makes 10hp more than the entry-level Mercedes C-class C 220d, and 10hp lesser than both the BMW 3-series 320d and Audis A4 35 TDI. The new engine is expected to be paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The car looks set for a mid-May launch, with deliveries scheduled to begin by the end of the month.
