In 2021, Jeep Compass 7-seater SUV launch is expected with a completely redesigned rear profile

Jeep Compass was launched in the country nearly three years back in 2017. In the starting days, it managed to generate buzz and sales but it has tailed off in the recent time due to the arrival of new and advanced models in the segment. With no facelift arriving in India anytime soon, the Compass is at the risk of falling behind rivals who are either giving mid-cycle updates to existing models or launching all new versions. Keeping in mind the renewed competition in the SUV segment, the manufacturer is currently working on a new 7-seater Jeep Compass SUV. Slated for a mid 2021 launch, we came across the spy shots of the upcoming 7-seater Compass SUV, thanks to our friends at Overdrive. Albeit heavily camouflaged, the SUV was spotted testing on the Indian roads. Once launched, it will rival Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace in the domestic market. Talking about pricing, the Compass 7-seater would retail in the range of Rs 20-30 Lakhs (ex-showroom, India).

Going by the spy-shots, the rear profile seems completely reworked while a new set of wheel arches can also be spotted. The headlamp design is sharper with revamped front grille and a completely new bumper. The Interior would be tweaked as well with a new dashboard layout while new additions expected are a larger infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. On the top-end variants, 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charger and LED exterior lighting would be the  standard features. Overall, exterior styling would remain the same as the current model.

Dimension wise, the 7-seater Compass wheelbase would be longer than the standard 5-seater version which is on sale currently to make space for the additional third row. More details would be coming out in open as we inch closer to the launch.

Talking about the performance, the 2021 Jeep Compass will be powered by the current 2.0-litre diesel unit. The new SUV would deliver 170 bhp of maximum power output and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties would be taken care of by a 6-speed manual or nine-speed automatic unit. In the overseas market, the American manufacturer offers a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. When paired with a manual transmission, the engine delivers 130 bhp of power output. With the 7-speed DCT gearbox, the engine belts out 150 bhp of power output. Chances are slim of the international-spec engine arriving in the country. Our guess is the 7-seater Jeep Compass SUV would come with the current 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine that delivers 160 bhp of power output and 250 Nm of torque. The engine comes coupled to 7-Speed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission.
