This car will go on sale after the new Corolla and Levin plug-in hybrids.

Toyota showed a zero-emission, all-electric version of the C-HR crossover, which will be sold in China from 2020. This car will go on sale after two other Toyota plug-in hybrids – the Corolla and Levin sedans – which are due in 2019.

The company intends to introduce 10 electrified models by 2020. The Chinese government has rules stating that a quota of cars for each brand must be electric. Toyota itself sold 1,40,000 electrified cars in China last year. The company will make the electric motors, batteries and inverters for its plug-in Chinese models.

Demand for its plug-in cars has also gone up, and Toyota has increased production capacity for nickel-metal hydride battery modules to 2,20,000 units in 2020. The company has also started a battery testing facility called Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing, in China.
