The new Jetta will be the latest model to be built on VW’s MQB platform.

Volkswagen has shown its next-generation Jetta sedan on its Canadian website. The model was scheduled to be revealed at the upcoming North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) that’s organised in Detroit in January 2018.

The teaser shows us clues of what the front and side of the MQB-based Jetta will look like. The overall design resembles the Jetta that was spotted testing recently. Volkswagen North America CEO Hinrich Woebcken said that the new car will be “super modern” and have an “emotional” design with coupe-like styling.

The car is expected to share engines with the VW Tiguan SUV, including a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine.

This seventh-gen model is unlikely to come to India, mainly because VW is not expected to produce the sedan for right-hand-drive markets like South Africa, India and the UK.
