It is powered by the same 650cc engine seen in the Ninja 650, Versys 650 and Z650

The Japanese manufacturer has officially teased the upcoming Vulcan S cruiser motorcycle on its website. This twin-cylinder bike will compete against Harley-Davidson’s Street offerings and Royal Enfield’s upcoming 650cc bikes. However, in terms of pricing, we can expect the Enfield to be considerably cheaper. The cruiser from Kawasaki is expected to be priced at around 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering the Kawasaki is a 649cc, twin-cylinder, motor that is paired with a six-speed transmission. This motor produces 61hp and 63Nm of torque. The power figures are different from the Ninja’s because of the reworked cam profiles, intake tract, exhaust and ECU to make it a better cruiser.

The Vulcan S comes with what Kawasaki call, ‘ERGO-FIT’ – this is a setting where the seat, footpegs and handlebar can be adjusted to suit riders of different sizes. Handling braking duties is a single 3000mm disc up front and a single 250mm disc at the rear. Both brakes are equipped with ABS.

The Vulcan S is expected to be locally-assembled at the Chakan plant along with the other 650s. Kawasaki was expected to launch the motorcycle at the Auto Expo 2018, but the latest teaser could suggest an earlier period.
