Kawasaki will be launching W175 sometime next year in the Indian market

Japanese Motorcycle brand, Kawasaki, is all set to enter the retro-classic roadster segment with the launch of W175. The brand might launch the bike in India by mid-2021. Recently, a test mule of the Kawasaki W175 was spotted doing test run for the first time around Pune. The motorcycle looked production-ready.

This test mule is seen riding on CEAT tyres on both the ends. Furthermore, we can also spot a slender fuel tank and a long saddle. These images reveal a mud-guard mounted taillight, spoke wheels, fork gaiters, and single-pod instrument cluster. Thought the two-wheeler misses out on chrome. The model sold in the global market weighs 126 kgs. Thus we can expect the India-spec model to weigh a bit more owing to the safety and emission restricting equipment.

The major change is the addition of the fuel-injection system so that the bike complies with the stringent BS6 emission norms. Talking about the international-spec model, it draws power from a 177cc, air-cooled engine that churns out 13 bhp power @ 7500 rpm and 13.2 Nm torque @ 6000 rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed gearbox. Also, the addition of FI should provide a crisper throttle response. Its suspension duties are taken care by telescopic front forks and preload-adjustable twin rear shock absorbers. In terms of brakes, it gets a single disc upfront and a drum towards the rear. The India-spec model will feature a 220mm front disc and rear drum brake coupled with single-channel ABS.

Kawasaki W175 is likely to be assembled locally. As for the price, we can expect it to cost around Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Furthermore, it will rival the likes of Honda Hornet 2.0, TVS Apache RTR 200, and Hero Xtreme 160R in its segment.
