Kia India has announced that the Carens MPV has crossed 50,000 bookings in the country. Kia Carens bookings started on January 14, 2022 and it took the MPV even less than two months to achieve this milestone. The company further stated that range-topping variants accounted for nearly 45 percent of the overall bookings. Moreover, over 42 percent bookings came from Tier 3 and beyond cities while around 60 percent of the bookings were bagged by Tier I and II markets. Kia Carens launched on February 15, 2022 at an introductory price of Rs 8.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India).
The demand for the petrol and diesel variant of the Carens was balanced, with around 50 percent of the customers going for either of them. Furthermore, the demand for the automatic variant of the vehicle also attracted close to 30 percent of the customers. Last month, the company sold 5,300 units of the Carens amid the semiconductor shortage in just 13 days of its launch, resonating an overwhelming response for the MPV. Commenting on this milestone, Myung-Sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India said, “This response for the Carens has created a never before excitement in the family mover segment and it matches the excitement that our other SUVs have generated, and it is very encouraging.”
