Kia plans to go all-electric in Europe by 2035 followed by entirely carbon neutral by 2045

Kia Motors has finally previewed its new EV9 electric SUV concept. Moreover, the EV9 concept will make its full debut on November 17 at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show. Kia plans to go carbon neutral by 2045. Furthermore, it will go EV-only in Europe by 2035. The South Korean automaker will work with suppliers to reduce the environmental impact of the components used by it in vehicle production. Besides this, it plans to introduce a new carbon emission monitoring system for partner companies by 2022. This is being done with an aim to provide solutions in areas where emissions can be reduced.

From the teaser images, EV9 looks boxy in terms of design. It further adopts a virtually flat roofline. Besides this, we get to see high-tech lighting with LEDs flanking the closed-off grille, side cameras, and large wheels. The design has been inspired by nature and various other recycled materials used in its construction. Since it is a concept, it lacks door handles. However, it comes with a massive sunroof shaped like a hexagon. Moving on, we can also see muscular character lines extending from the fenders to the A- and B- pillars and then further downwards. This gives a bold and imposing look to the concept.

As we step inside the electric concept, the cabin gets a minimalistic design. There is an ultra-widescreen that dominates the dashboard. However, from the teaser images, it was a bit unclear if the EV9 will get a one-piece screen or several displays within the same housing. Besides this, we could also see touch-sensitive buttons illuminated in white followed by a retro-futuristic steering wheel. There is a full-length centre console that separates the driver from the front passenger. It is also being expected that EV9 might ride on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6 and Genesis GV60.
