Kia Motors revealed its futuristic concept SUV named as Futuron. With this revelation of the futuristic electric SUV, the company aims to give pee into the brand’s design language for future electric vehicles. The name Futuron itself blends ‘future’ and ‘ion ‘which as per Kia hints at switched- on, electric SUV of the future.

As per Kia, the concept of Futuron is built around a 360-degree design that has series of flowing shapes that completes wraps around the entire body of the SUV that results in highly aerodynamic efficient and a sleek SUV.

The SUV’s front grille has KIA’s renowned ‘tiger-nose grille ‘and star cloud design for the headlamps and taillamps. The SUV is 4,850mm long, 1,550mm tall and has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. The concept SUV car also has a light strip around the entire SUV that illuminates in response to physical gestures.

When it comes to the sunroof, KIA has gone onto at another level with its LiDAR infused sensors in the diamond-shaped panoramic glasshouse. The LiDAR sensors are capable of providing Level-4 autonomous driving mode.

The interior of Futuron is crafted out of flexible materials that offer an upright driving position and a reclined position when the autonomous driving mode is engaged. When the auto-driving mode is enabled the steering wheels retracts.

A graphical user interface (GUI) is used in the drivers’ cockpit that flows out of the driver side door and goes around the steering wheel like an arc. The GUI with the help of artificial intelligence displays crucial info about the car like autonomous driving, powertrain, and navigation. The “Star Cloud” design is part of the ambient lighting system. The powertrain of the SUV is fully electric that provides the power to four electric motors embedded inside the wheels via an e-AWD system.

The high-capacity battery is placed under the car’s floor that also provides better on-road stability and cornering. Kia as a motor company has taken off to a strong start in the Indian car market with the company first offering Seltos crossing 25K sales mark in just within 90 days of the launch.
