Kia Announces Service Campaign for Seltos Diesel In India

UPDATE : Kia Motors has issued a voluntary service campaign for all the variants of seltos diesel due to a faulty fuel pump

According to a certain media report, Kia Seltos diesel has been recalled in India over a faulty fuel pump. The compact SUV's manufactured between the dates of 1st October 2019 to 13th March 2020 would be a part of this recall. As per the document shown here, there are high chances that the fuel pump that was installed in these vehicles may have developed a small hole at the bottom or a crack in the fuel pump assembly. This could result in more vibrations, reduce the car’s pickup, or create a problem while starting the vehicle. It is being said that during the checks, if no damage is found then the fuel pump will not be replaced. Also, this will be a warranty replacement that will be done at no cost. 




Kia Motors have sold around 1.25 lakh units of Seltos since its launch in the domestic market. Kia Seltos falls in the price range of Rs 9.89 lakh - Rs 16.34 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV is offered in two trims - Tech Line and GT Line. Recently, Global NCAP conducted a crash test program on Kia Seltos for crash safety. The SUV was handed a 3-Star Rating for Adult Occupant Protection and a 2-Star Rating for Child Occupant Protection. The Seltos’ safety net comprises six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, emergency stop signal, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill Assist Control (HAC).




Under the bonnet, the compact SUV is offered with three engine options. A 1.5-litre petrol unit that generates 115 bhp power and 144 Nm torque. This unit is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox. While the 1.5-litre diesel motor develops 115 bhp of power output with 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission along with a 6-speed automatic stick shift. Its 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine is offered only with the GT Line variants. The powertrain churns out a maximum power output of 140 bhp and 242 Nm of torque while being mated either to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
