At this year’s CES, Kia showed a compact crossover concept that previews an upcoming production version’s styling and the tech that will come embedded.
The powertrain will be the same as sister firm Hyundai’s Ioniq EV. Under the hood will be a 204hp electric powertrain and power will come from a 64kWh lithium-polymer battery park, which the company claims can offer range of 383km. Woong Chul Yang, Kia's vice-chairman in charge of research and development, said that the production car will come with two battery options, the 64kWh and a smaller, likely 32kWh, unit.
The styling of the concept points to what the production Car will look like. The car at the show was fitted with an Active Pedestrian Warning System, and a new Human Machine Interface (HMI) - you can log in to the HMI using facial and voice recognition systems, which aids safety since the car will disable certain features if it doesn’t recognise the driver. You can also control the infotainment and heating systems by swiping on the perforated leather area at the bottom of the steering wheel.
The car also comes with a sound separation control system, that uses eight headrest-mounted speaker and noise cancelling tech, so you can listen to different music at the front and rear, at the same time. This car also features a 5G data connection.
Bookings for the new motorcycle have already started in India. Pre-bookings for the new adventure tourer have started for a token of INR 10,000.
