Kia Motors India to increase the price of Sonet and Seltos SUV's from January 2021

Kia Motors India has recorded good sales numbers despite a dip in the Indian economy. At present, the automaker has three cars in its product portfolio namely Seltos, Sonet, and Carnival. With the onset of the new year, the company is to give a price hike to both its SUVs - Seltos and Sonet. As for the Carnival MPV, the prices will remain the same as the existing ones.

The company has not revised the prices of the Sonet since its launch. However, Seltos received its last price hike almost a year ago. The main reason for this price hike is the increase in the cost of raw materials and transportation. There are other automakers as well who are planning to increase the prices of their products from January 1, 2021.

Coming back to Kia Sonet and Seltos, the price increase is believed to be applicable to all customer bookings that exist as of December 31, 2020. This means that the customers taking their delivery on January 1, 2021, will have to pay the increased prices of Seltos and Sonet across the country. As we all are aware that the waiting period for Kia Sonet and Seltos is more than three months, deliveries scheduled for December end will not be impacted by this price hike.

Kia Motors launched the Sonet SUV in September this year in the price bracket of Rs 6.71 lakhs - Rs 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The subcompact SUV is offered in two trims - Tech Line and GT Line. Under the bonnet, it provides three engine options - 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre 3 cylinder TGDi petrol, and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel. Kia Seltos, on the other hand, was the first launch from the South Korean automaker in August last year. Its price falls in the range of Rs 9.89 lakh to Rs 17.34 lakhs (ex-showroom). Furthermore, the compact SUV is available in two trims namely Tech Line and GT Line. It comes with three engine options - 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel.
