Kia Telluride won ‘World Car of the Year’ and Soul EV earned 'World Urban Car’ Award

Kia Motors Corporation was the talking point at the 2020 World Car Awards after Telluride won  ‘World Car of the Year’ while the Soul EV earned ‘World Urban Car’ Award.  Kia Telluride was rewarded by the 2020 World Car Awards judging panel for its distinguishing design and impressive practical features. The World Car of the Year title is another feather in the cap for Kia Telluride which has won over 70 awards since it made its debut in 2019.

2020 World Car Award jury panel found fully-electric Soul EV as an ideal car for the city. Soul EV got the 'World Urban Award' for its zero-emission performance and the range that it delivers on a single charge. Soul EV has a compact body, stunning design and practical features. “Everyone at Kia is truly honoured to receive not just one, but two awards from the World Car of the Year judging panel,” commented Thomas Schemera, Executive Vice President and Head of Product Division at Kia Motors Corporation. “This is one of the hardest-fought competitions in the global automotive industry, proving that the Telluride and Soul EV are both truly outstanding vehicles. These accolades are a testament to the talents and efforts of a worldwide team, who all strive to create desirable, high-quality and practical cars that drivers love”, added Thomas. 

The winners of the World Car Awards are decided by an independent international jury comprising 86 highly experienced, well-respected automotive journalists from 24 countries around the world.

Kia Telluride is sold across North America and in many of Kia’s global markets, the Kia Telluride features a strong exterior design with a spacious and quality cabin. Telluride is an eight-seater vehicle equipped with plenty of tech features, all-wheel-drive and driver assistance systems. While the compact Kia Soul EV is powered by an electric powertrain with a choice of 64 or 39.2 kWh battery packs. Soul EV can travel 452 kilometres on a single charge (64 kWh models; WLTP ‘combined’ cycle). A series of advanced range-increasing technologies, including regenerative braking, ensure drivers can maximize the distance on a single charge.
