The electric cars eligible for these benefits will be Tata Tigor and Tata Nexon

The Maharashtra Government has extended the early bird benefits for EV buyers till March 31, 2022. Earlier, it was supposed to end on December 31, 2022. The electric cars eligible for these benefits will be Tata Tigor and Tata Nexon while the buyers will get an additional subsidy of Rs 1 Lakh from the state government on the purchase of these vehicles. Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV will not qualify for early bird benefits under the Maharashtra government subsidy scheme as both are priced above Rs 15 Lakhs in the Indian market.

Under its EV Policy, Maharashtra Government offers a basic incentive of Rs 5000 on per kWh of the battery capacity of the vehicle. The maximum amount capped under this scheme is Rs 1.50 Lakhs. Hence, after combining the early bird benefit of Rs 1 Lakh, a buyer can get a maximum subsidy of Rs 2.50 Lakhs on the purchase of select variants of Tata Nexon. These benefits help a buyer immensely by dropping the on-road price of the vehicle massively. All the variants of Tata Tigor EV qualify for the early bird benefits. Recently, it was learnt from Tata dealers that bookings were growing at a rapid pace for the qualifying variants of Tata Nexon in order to avail the huge incentive amount.

The automotive dealers as well as the customers have expressed happiness on this decision of Maharashtra Government. The extension will enable more and more buyers to get the subsidy and own the vehicle at a cheaper price. Tata Nexon Electric presently has a general waiting period of around 6 months. The subsidies provided by the Maharashtra government are in addition to the FAME II benefits which are offered by the Government of India. As for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, the maximum subsidy amount offered by the Maharashtra Government is Rs Rs 10,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively. Though most electric brands are retailing their products without giving these benefits to the buyer.
