Ola’s fleet will feature 200 electric vehicles, of which 100 will be Mahindra e2o Plus cars.

Cab aggregator Ola, has collaborated with Mahindra Electric, to start an electric vehicle project in Nagpur. Ola will operate around 200 electric vehicles on its app, of which, a 100 will be units of Mahindra's e2o Plus vehicles. The company will also offer other vehicles such as e-buses, e-rickshaws and e-autos, which will be sourced from companies such as Tata Motors, Kinetic, BYD, TVS and others.

The plan also involves setting up over 50 charging points across four strategic locations in Nagpur. Both companies will invest in training and educating driver partners on maintenance and use of in-car technology.

The Indian government is currently pushing for electric mobility and is looking to shift to an all-electric vehicle market by 2030. Shared mobility services are a key volume driver for electric vehicles.

In fact, at a recent press briefing, Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra said, "Working in partnerships with mobility service providers such as taxi aggregators is important. The biggest use of vehicles will come when they are used for commercial purposes. The more you run the more you save because the combined fuel consumption is very less."

Ola's lead investor SoftBank earlier announced that it plans to introduce a million electric cars by the end of this decade.
