Mahindra Marazzo is one of the safest MPV's playing on Indian roads currently. Global NCAP awarded Marazzo a 4-Star in safety crash parameter making it the first ever Made-In-India MPV to receive this sort of a rating. With a ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 17.3 kmpl, Marazzo manual has made the right noises since its launch in India. With the Indian buyers showing a preference for automatic transmission, Mahindra is planning to introduce Marazzo Diesel with an AMT transmission in India. It has been spied on the road indicating its imminent launch. Plus, the Delhi Transport Department’s leaked document has revealed details about the upcoming MPV’s AMT variant. As per the document, the AMT option will be available with all the 3 variants namely M2, M4+ and M6+.
Both 7-seater and 8 seater versions of this vehicle will come with the automatic gearbox option. Talking about the pricing, the new automatic variant will be priced at a premium of Rs 20,000- Rs 60,000 over the current manual model on sale. The Mahindra Marazzo takes on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market. The new AMT variant is expected to arrive at dealerships before the end of the first quarter of 2021.
The Marazzo Diesel AMT houses a 1.5-litre diesel engine that delivers a power output of 121 bhp with 300 Nm of the peak torque. The engine will come equipped with an AMT option apart from the existing 6-speed manual gearbox. There will be 2 drive modes namely Power and Eco. In the Eco mode, the maximum power output is reduced to 99 bhp.
Apart from the new transmission option, Mahindra Marazzo is expected to come with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox unit. Reportedly, the engine belts out 161 bhp of power output and 280 Nm of peak torque. The petrol-powered Mahindra Marazzo would debut at a later stage in the year. With a new AMT variant plus petrol engine, Mahindra seeks to cut into the market share of rivals like Toyota Innova Crysta, Maruti Ertiga in the lucrative MPV segment in India.
