Mahindra To Supply Petrol Engines To Ford

Mahindra and Ford sign agreements on powertrain sharing and connected car solutions.

Ford was among the first global automakers to enter India in 1995. Ford manufactures and exports vehicles and engines from its facilities in India. On the other hand, Mahindra has led the utility vehicle segment in India over the decades, it has partnered with global companies to develop a clean and affordable technology. It is the only manufacturer which offers electric vehicles commercially in India.

Mahindra will develop and supply a low-displacement petrol engine to Ford for their present and future vehicles starting in 2020. The BS-VI engines will help Ford to strengthen its offering in petrol variant models. Both the manufacturers with jointly develop the telematics control unit which will be deployed across both Mahindra and Ford vehicles.

The collaboration will help both the manufactures to increase their expertise and efficiency. This agreement will strengthen their product development for India and other emerging markets and will be helpful while co-development of compact SUVs and electric vehicles.
