Mahindra & Mahindra launched Treo electric three-wheeler in Maharashtra

Mahindra Electric Mobility has launched the Treo electric three-wheeler auto rickshaw in Maharashtra. It is priced at Rs 2.09 lakhs (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) after FAME II, state, and early bird subsidies. Since its launch, a total of 13,000 units of Mahindra Treo have been sold in the country. It further commands a 67 percent market share in its segment in India. The automaker claims that the Treo can help owners save Rs 2 lakhs in five years. One of the reasons being the maintenance costs which are 50 paise per km.


Mahindra Treo comes equipped with the homegrown automaker’s NEMO Mobility platform. It offers a plethora of features such as geo fencing, speed, location, and allowing the driver to remotely monitor the vehicle range. The three wheeler can be purchased with a low down-payment scheme of Rs 45,500 from Mahindra Finance and a low interest rate scheme of 10.8 percent from State Bank of India.

Performance-wise, the Mahindra Treo comes with an IP65-rated 8 kW lithium-ion battery pack that powers the electric motor. This further generates a top power of 10.7 bhp and a peak torque of 42 Nm. Moving on, the vehicle offers a range of 130 km on a single charge. Furthermore, it is paired with a direct drive transmission that further offers gearless and clutch less driving. The battery pack can be fully charged in 3 hours and 50 minutes with the help of a 16 A plug point. Furthermore, the battery pack comes with a warranty of 5 years or 1,50,000 km.
