After shaking up the sub compact SUV segment with their XUV300, Indian UV Mahindra maker has gone ahead and launched the much-awaited AMT variant of the SUV in Indian market. Launched a few months ago, the XUV300 was sorely lacking an automatic option at the time of launch but now that the brand has brought out the same in the market, the sub compact SUV will once again attract the attention of customers. This move had also become necessary with the feature packed Hyundai Venue making an entry into the cutthroat space that the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment is turning out to be.
However, the AMT option of XUV300 for now is only being offered with the diesel version of the SUV and the petrol customers will still have to make do with a manual unit. The diesel AMT unit of the XUV300 comes at a premium of Rs. 55,000 more than the manual counterpart and is available with W8 and W8(O) trims of the SUV. The price for Mahindra XUV300 W8 AMT is Rs. 11.5 lakhs while the W8(O) AMT is priced at Rs. 12.7 lakhs.
Speaking about the AMT version of XUV300, the chief of sales and marketing in automotive division of Mahindra and Mahindra, Veejay Ram Nakra stated,
“At Mahindra, it has been our constant endeavour to offer advanced and accessible technologies to all our customers and we are delighted to introduce the autoSHIFT in the XUV300 for that perfect blend of effortless driving and exhilarating performance. After receiving an overwhelming response for its manual version since its launch in February 2019, we are confident that the XUV300 autoSHIFT will further strengthen the brand’s value proposition and expand the market for us.”
Talking of the engines on Mahindra XUV300 the introduction of AMT brings no changes to engine, and the 1.2 litre petrol engine leads the segment in torque output and produces 110 Bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. While the 1.5 litre diesel engine produces 115 Bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque.
Mahindra has taken the premium approach here and loaded the XUV300 with features to the brim. The latest SUV from Mahindra comes with ambient lighting, electric sunroof, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 60:40 split rear seat and more. Moving on to safety features the XUV300 comes with 7 airbags, seat belt reminders for all five passengers, disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS, EBD, anti-roll over protection, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system.
