Mahindra XUV300 launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 7.90 lakhs

Mahindra has launched the much awaited XUV300 with a starting price of Rs. 7.90 lakhs for the petrol and Rs. 8.49 lakhs for the diesel (ex-showroom). This new compact SUV from the Indian carmaker competes with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza. It is based on the SsangYong Tivoli but gets new mechanicals engineered in India. The Mahindra XUV300 comes with a long list of features, many of them being segment first.

The design of the baby XUV is inspired by Cheetah. The front profile gets a projector headlamp cluster and the grille gets a chrome treatment. There are skid plates as well both at the front and rear. There is a contrasting roof on offer along with diamond cut alloys. The rear profile gets quirky tail light cluster and roof mounted spoiler.

The interiors get light colours for a more airy feel in the cabin. There are a lot of new elements which are being seen for the first time in a Mahindra. Some of the unique features include 7 airbags, four discs, steering modes, sunroof, cruise control, heated ORVMs, dual-zone climate control, LED DRLs, projectors, front parking sensors, etc.

Powering the new XUV300 are two engine options - 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces 110 BHP of power at 5000 RPM and 200 Nm of torque 2000-3500 RPM. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine produces 115 BHP at 3750 RPM and 300 Nm at 1500-2500 RPM. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Mahindra XUV300 is available in four variants - W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O).
