In a new development, Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall order for over 40,000 Eeco vehicles in India. A voluntary recall, the MPV's manufactured between the dates of November 4, 2019, to February 25, 2020 will come under this arrangement. The reason for this decision was taken in the light of the recalled vehicles missing standard symbol on the headlamp. The manufacturer has also pointed out in its press release that the owners of these vehicles will be contacted by authorized Maruti Suzuki dealers soon. Another option for the Eeco owners is to log on to the official website and fill in the vehicles chassis number (MA3 followed by 14 digits alpha-numeric number). The information has to be filled in the ‘Imp Customer Info’ section and then they can find out whether or not their vehicle has been recalled.
In case a customer is unaware of his or her vehicle's chassis number then they can refer to the Vehicle's ID plate or else take a look at their car's invoice/registration documents as it is mentioned in all of them. The manufacturer has further added that the customer will not have to pay a single rupee for any work done on the vehicle as part of this recall campaign.
This is not the first time that the Indian automotive giant is recalling vehicles in India this year. Earlier in July 2020, 63,493 units of Maruti Ciaz, Ertiga and XL 6 petrol smart hybrids were recalled by the company. In that case, the Maruti Suzuki had asked its dealerships to arrange alternative mobility arrangements for all the Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 owners. In the Eeco's case, the brand has not made any such statement in relation to alternative mobility arrangements.
