Maruti Suzuki to launch updated version of Eeco MPV with new features and higher price tag.

Keeping the upcoming safety regulations in view, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has just launched the updated version of its Eeco in India. The new safety regulations will apply post 1 April 2019 and seeing the upcoming BNVSAP deadline Maruti decided to update its multi-purpose vehicle in India. With this update Maruti Eeco’s prices start at Rs 3.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and go all the way up to Rs. 4.65 lakh for the top model. This marks an increment of around Rs. 23,000 on the entry level models of Maruti Eeco.

The new BNSVAP regime mandates ABS, driver-side airbag, seatbelt reminder, speed alert, reverse parking assist in all cars in India. The new Eeco was bound to get these updates as the deadline for implementing the new rules was fast approaching. These new safety measures aim at making the cars in India more secure and reduce the number of fatalities in road accidents in the country.

Maruti Eeco is a preferred choice among the small transporters and cab operators in India as the company offers 5 seater and 8 seater options for the MPV right from factory. Maruti Eeco is offered by the company in petrol, CNG, and petrol-CNG options, and is a strong seller in the segment. The MPV comes equipped with a 1.2L, 4 cylinder, petrol engine rated to deliver 73 Bhp and 101 Nm and is mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Strong on mileage and reliability, Eeco boasts of strong sales in the segment along with the Maruti Omni, which was discontinued in India a few months ago.

As Eeco will replace the legendary Omni, we can expect to see the Cargo version of Eeco gain more prominence among the customers. It is also likely that India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki will soon add a LPG-Petrol option to the Eeco line-up, just like the one offered with the Omni. The reason behind this move would be that CNG as a fuel is not readily available in many parts the country, whereas LPG is available throughout the nation. Hence, in order to provide the customers with a chapter and cleaner mode of fuel, Maruti could soon launch the LPG-Petrol version of their Eeco. The recent updates to Maruti Eeco makes it one of the cheapest 8 seater vehicle in the country right now with safety features like ABS and driver-side airbags. Eeco is very spacious option in its segment and is quite the utilitarian workhorse for people who are not bothered by looks of the car.
