Maruti had presented the Future S Concept at the Auto Expo last year with great enthusiasm and now is working on the same. The production version of the concept will be brought to the market under the name of S-Presso and it has recently been spied testing in India. Although, the vehicle was heavily camouflaged, the spyshot still captured the silhouette of the upcoming car. The all-new car will take on the likes of Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and the Mahindra KUV100 in the market. We have already informed you that the launch of the vehicle in the Indian market may just be preponed by the company and it may launch before the expected timeline of festive season this year.
Right after the sub-4 meter compact SUV Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the upcoming S-Presso from the brand will be the second car that the Indian team of the company has developed all on its own. If one takes small cars into account then the S-Presso will be the very first car that the Suzuki’s team has developed in the country all on its own. As was witnessed in the concept at Auto Expo 2018, one can expect the S-Presso to come with good ground clearance and a SUV like look. These two things will surely help the car rack up good numbers in sales in India.
Coming back to the spyshot, the overall silhouette of the car does remind one of the existing Maruti Ignis in the market. However, the brand will position the S-Presso lower than the Ignis in India and plans to sell it via its Arena dealerships. Whereas on the other hand, the Ignis is sold via the premium NEXA chain of dealerships of the brand. Based on the Future S Concept from the brand, the upcoming S-Presso will be a unique vehicle on the roads because the Concept in itself was based on a micro-SUV design. Just like the upcoming Tata Hornbill, the S-Presso will encash the SUV trend that has been growing strong in the Indian market. The SUV based design of the vehicle along with the compact dimensions will make it a perfect vehicle for the urban Indian market, where the crowd of the vehicles is growing on the streets by the day.
The interiors of the micro-SUV from the brand will also be fairly equipped as the brand will focus this car on the youth of India. Expect the S-Presso to come with technology laden interiors with a touchscreen infotainment system making an appearance here as other rivals also offer it. The upcoming S-Presso will be a petrol only car, at least initially, because the maker has already announced its intent about diesel cars in the BS-VI regime. One can expect a 1.2L petrol engine to soldier in the upcoming S-Presso.
