Maruti Suzuki crosses 20-million unit mark for production

It is the first carmaker in the country to achieve this milestone.

The company has now made 20 million (2 crore) units in India. It took the manufacturer 34 years and 6 months to hit this number. Maruti started making cars in India from December 1983 and is now the first to this milestone in the country.

It owns two manufacturing facilities in the country – in Gurugram and in Manesar, which make 16 models for our market, and export to over 100 countries around the world. The carmaker’s data says that 14.37 million (71.85 percent) were made at Gurugram, while 5.62 million (28.15 percent) came from Manser.

Maruti is currently gearing up to launch the Ciaz mid-size sedan after which, it will bring the second-gen Ertiga to India.
