Maruti Suzuki to Set Up EV Charging Network Nationwide for eVX Owners

Maruti Suzuki will now export its upcoming electric vehicles to Japan and Europe to boost buyer confidence.

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, is gearing up to launch the eVX, its first ever battery-powered car in the country, in January 2025. The brand will set up a holistic ecosystem to help buyers with issues like range anxiety, the resale value of EV models, and charging infrastructure. In addition, Maruti also confirmed that it is going to export upcoming electric vehicles to Japan and Europe to boost buyer confidence.

Maruti Suzuki revealed its plans to deploy an EV charging network at an event held in Delhi. The automaker is all set to officially unveil the Maruti eVX, its first electric car, at the Bharat Mobility Show 2024, which is scheduled to be held in January. The Maruti Suzuki eVX was first revealed as a prototype at the Auto Expo, which was held in Greater Noida in 2023. It has now been manufactured as a near-production model over the past 18 months. The latest version of the eVX was showcased at the Indonesian Auto Show 2024.

The auto giant is all set to utilize a vast charging infrastructure for the new eVX. The MD and CEO at Maruti Suzuki, Hisashi Takeuchi, said, “We will come up with a range of solutions for our EV customers to remove their concerns about owning an EV. We will use the strength of our network to give confidence to the customers for after-sale support."

The Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki, Partho Banerjee, said, “We are not only going to launch the product, but we are also going to provide a complete ecosystem for the customers who are going to be part of the electric vehicle family."

The Maruti Suzuki eVX will be packed with a 60-kWh battery set that will provide a certified range of 500 km on one charge. The midsize electric SUV is expected to be priced around INR 15 lakh. After its official launch in the Indian market, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will rival the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Nexon EV, and new Windsor EV.
