Maruti Suzuki Launches XL6 MPV in Indian Market

After a long game of speculations, leaks, and spyshots, Maruti Suzuki has launched the upmarket version of their bestselling MPV Ertiga in the Indian market by the name of XL6. The price for the latest MUV from the brand has been determined at Rs 9.72 lakh, ex-showroom, which is in line with the speculated price of the car. Maruti Suzuki XL6 will lock horns with the likes of Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market. However, Innova Crysta is priced significantly higher than the XL6 but the Rs. 10.35 lakhs starting price of Mahindra Marazzo will make for some interesting rivalry between the MPVs. Here is the details of the variants of the XL6 available in the market.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 Zeta (Manual): Rs. 9.79 lakhs

Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha (Manual): Rs. 10.36 lakhs

Maruti Suzuki XL6 Zeta (Automatic): Rs. 10.89 lakhs

Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha (Automatic): Rs. 11.46 lakhs

Unlike the Ertiga which is sold via Arena dealerships, the XL6 will be sold via the more premium NEXA dealership of the brand. The XL6 MUV has a more aggressive stance, something that looks like a cross between SUV and MPV, with leanings toward the latter. Talking of the front side of the new XL6, the front also carries an aggressive look, courtesy the redesigned grille along with the LED elements in the headlamp. Other exterior highlights include a new front grille, bumper inserts at the front and rear, cladding on the sides, new alloy wheels, roof rails and more cladding on the hatch lid. The 15--inch alloy wheels also boost the looks of the MPV.

In order to keep the cabin spacious and more upmarket Maruti offers six seats on the XL6. These seats are in the 2-2-2 layout and comprise of captain seats in the middle row with slide and recline function. The new XL6 is also a lot more premium from the inside. Apart from the increased space and the presence of captain seats in the MUV, one can see the usage of premium materials like leather inside the car (in top model only). The shades of black and plum in leather will definitely add to the appeal of the XL6 in the Indian market. The SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment interface is carried over from the Ertiga, and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As far as the features of the XL6 are concerned, it comes with LED fog lamps, headlamps, tail lamps and DRLs. Other features include keyless entry, start/stop button, power socket in all the rows, electric ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, 7.0-inch Smart Play infotainment system with voice commands, steering mounted control, driver seat height adjuster, cruise control, automatic climate control and more. This are just the features of the base model of the XL6. The top-end version gets leather seats with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, follow-me-home headlamps and rear parking camera. In the department of safety, both the variants offer dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, electronic stability program, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, seatbelt height adjuster, ISOFIX child seat mounts, central locking and speed alerts.

The company will sell the XL6 with a SHVS mild-hybrid 1.5L petrol engine rated to deliver 105 Bhp and 138 Nm. This petrol mill will come paired to a 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The mileage for the manual transmission version is 19.01 km/l while the 4-speed automatic version returns a maximum of 17.99 km/l (ARAI figures).
