Maruti Suzuki tour models updated with safety features.

Just like the other makers in the country, India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is also upgrading all the models in its portfolio as per the new safety norms of the country. Some models like the Alto 8—have also received minor tweaks in design apart from the mandatory safety updates while others like the Maruti Suzuki Gyspy and Omni have also been removed from the market due to the skewed cost to benefit ratio of the upgrade. Now the largest carmaker of India has decided to upgrade the Tour variant of its models in the market. The Tour model of Maruti cars are the variants of the cars that is especially made for the cab market. These models are lower spec variants of the cars and are prominent among cab service providers in the country. The company offers Tour variants of the Dzire, Celerio, Alto 800, and Eeco in the market. Among these, Dzire is the most famous variant among cab operators.

The new update brings latest safety features to the models. These features are ABS + EBD, driver side airbag, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system, and driver and co-driver seat belt reminder. The update that the cars have received are in line with the rules mandated by the AIS-145 safety norms in the country. AIS stands for Automotive Industry Standards and AIS-145 states that all cars sold from 1 April 2019 should have a definite set of safety features as mandatory. These safety features include ABS + EBD, driver side airbag, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system, and driver and co-driver seat belt reminder.

As is pretty evident from the updated safety features, these steps have been taken to decrease the fatalities caused by road accidents in India as the country witnesses one of the highest number of road accidents in the world. Not just the AIS-145, but the BNVSAP also has already mandated safety features for passenger cars and the body strength rules under BNVSAP will also set limits for the strength of a vehicle’s body from October 2019.

As far as the prices of the Maruti Suzuki Tour models are concerned, the latest safety update will surely add to the cost of the vehicles and the models will see their prices rise by a certain margin. However, since the rise in prices will be industry wide and across all models and for the safe driving experience of the customers, to the sales are less likely to be impacted.
