On January 14, 2020, Mercedes-Benz India will announce the country's EQ brand. The EQ is the electric vehicle brand of Mercedes with versions such as the hybrid Crossover of the EQC.

Mercedes-Benz India has announced on 14 January 2020 that it will debut the EQ brand in India. The EQ manages Mercedes-Benz's electric car range and has in its line-up vehicles such as the EQC compact SUV. Could that mean we'll see the start of this year's EQC in India? Well, to say it's too early. But considering the launch of two electric SUVs in the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV in January itself, and also confirmed by the launch of the Audi e-Tron, it wouldn't be a strain to expect Mercedes to launch this year's EQC, which was Mercedes-Benz's first electric production model.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz EQC is a dual-engine configuration that comprises one front-axle and one rear-axle drive. It makes the EQC an all-wheel-drive Crossover, or a 4Matic for Mercedes would name it. The EQC's engines are powered by a lithium-ion battery of 80 kWh, which helps the engines produce a combined peak power of 300 kW (402 bhp) and peak torque of 765 Nm. The new EQC also gets about 400 km of all-electric range with a quick charge option on the SUV.

By 2022, Mercedes-Benz aims to fully electrify its entire model line-up, particularly in developed markets with a total of 130 variants. These variants will include 48-volt on-board electrical system with EQ Boost to plug-in hybrids with battery or fuel cell to all-electric vehicles. Mercedes-Benz assumes that, based on individual customer desires and the growth of public infrastructure, unit sales of BEVs or battery electric vehicles will rise to 15-25% of total unit sales by 2025.
