Mercedes Benz India recently announced the launch of 2020 Mercedes Benz GLC Coupe in the country on March 3. Being unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019, the facelifted GLC coupe will come with a few cosmetic updates along with the updated powertrain. It borrows the styling cues from the new GLC SUV, thus becoming the first non-AMG version in the Indian market.
The GLC facelift will be offered in two variants: GLC 300 (petrol) and GLC 300 D (diesel). The petrol variant will be powered by the BSVI compliant 2.0-litre turbo engine that outputs 258bhp max power and 370Nm peak torque. On the other hand, the diesel variant will draw power also from a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor that outputs 245 bhp max power and 500 Nm highest torque. Both these engines are paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
In terms of a cosmetic update, the new GLC Coupe will flaunt a new diamond-pattern front grille. The headlamps come with signature LED DRLs along with a new front bumper that houses a new chrome element and angular air intakes. Riding on 19-inch light-alloy wheels in gloss black and a high sheen finish, there are chrome inserts on the side too thus giving it a premium look. The rear end gets a new LED taillamp thus giving the Coupe-SUV a more rugged and aggressive look.
With Mercedes Benz GLC, the customer stands to benefit with a whole lot of features. The MBUX system is the main highlight of the cabin that includes a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Access to the system is through the touchscreen display, touch control buttons on the steering wheel and voice commands along with the touchpad on the centre control. The cabin will boast of a beige upholstery while the ambient lighting will be responsible for creating an attractively warm atmosphere. The interior of the baseline is finished in black. The centre console trim comes with the options of piano lacquer finish and two-new wood surface finishes. Another major highlight of the cabin is the Augmented Video that compliments the navigation in a useful way. Equipped with modern technology, it comes with wireless phone charging, a rear-view mirror and an embedded sim thus making it the first connected luxury car in India.
