German carmaker, Mercedes has unveiled its New A-Class before the global debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The hatchback will continue to be offered with five-doors, and is the first of eight new compact cars from Mercedes due by 2020.
Dieter Zetsche, Mercedes-Benz was quoted saying, “The A-Class has been a big driver of change at Mercedes. This last version is not a car that gives much of an impression of entry-level. It's a grown-up A-Class that fully embraces our vision of luxury." The car is based on a reworked version of the current model’s MFA platform and is claimed to offer considerably more refinement. The hatchback will also be more aerodynamic than the model it replaces.
The car has a new front-end with a reworked grille and sharper-looking headlight. To add to that, the headlights can also be equipped with multibeam LED and high-beam assist plus. The car also has new LED taillights and optional able 19 inch wheels on standard models.
Interestingly, the car will have two seven-inch displays, one for the instrumentation and one for the infotainment system. This will also be the first touchscreen-enabled screen to be offered by the German carmaker. The new A-Class will be available with three four-cylinder engine options globally.
