MG Astor price is expected to fall in the range of Rs 11-16 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom)

MG Motor India will officially launch the Astor SUV on October 11, 2021, in the country. Having grabbed numerous headlines of late due to the extensive tech features present in it, MG Astor's price is expected to fall in the range of Rs 11-16 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). It is basically the ICE version of the all-electric ZS SUV, albeit with subtle cosmetic updates and added features. The MG Astor will be offered a choice of two petrol engines while being the company's entry-level SUV below Hector and Gloster in India.


MG Astor will be available in a total of 8 variants namely Style, Super, Smart Std, Smart, Sharp Std, Sharp, Savvy, and Savvy Red. It will be the first SUV in India to come with an AI-powered Personal Assistant with voice commands and human-like emotions. In addition, it will boast of first-in-segment Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with multiple cameras and radars. The ADAS will comprise of several features such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist. Additionally, the Astor will get a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, electric parking brake, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.


On the safety front, MG Astor will have six airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESP, traction control, and hill descent control. Mechanically, the SUV will come with a choice of two petrol engines namely a 1.5L naturally aspirated VTi-Tech and a 1.3L turbocharged 220 Turbo. The former will develop maximum power and peak torque of 108 bhp and 144 Nm while linked with a 5-speed manual and an 8-speed CVT automatic gearbox. The latter will churn out top power of 138 bhp and highest torque of 220 Nm while exclusively mated to an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The British brand intends to retail around 3000 units of the Astor on a monthly basis in India.
