Recently, MG Motors unveiled its flagship SUV, Gloster in the Indian market. The SUV is all set to be launched sometime next month. However, the bookings for the same have already begun at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. Ford India, on the other hand, launched a new variant Endeavour Sport in the Indian market a few days back. Talking about the BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4, the first unit has been delivered to the Honorable President of India. Today we pit MG Gloster with Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4. Let us find out what each one has to offer in terms of price, features, specifications, and color schemes.
MG Gloster is offered as a single fully-loaded variant. Ford Endeavour is available in four trims namely Titanium (4X2), Titanium Plus (4X2), Titanium Plus (4X4), and Sport. Mahindra Alturas G4, on the other hand, comes in two variants namely 2WD and 4WD.
MG Gloster features an octagonal chrome grille, LED headlamps with auto-leveling upfront. The rear end gets LED tail-lights, ‘Gloster’ emblem, and dual-barrel twin chrome exhaust pipes. Other design highlights include diamond-cut alloy wheels, outside mirror with logo projection, steering assist, cornering lamps and turn indicators on ORVMs.
Upfront, Ford Endeavour flaunts a chrome radiator & fender grille. In addition, it also gets bi-LED headlamps with LED DRLs. At the rear, it caters to LED tail light and a spoiler with high mount stop lamp. Other design highlights include front & rear bumper skid plate, bright-finish roof rails, and premium alloy wheels.
Mahindra Alturas G4, on the other hand, gets an aggressive chrome front grille that gives the SUV a robust look. In addition, it gets HID headlamps, dual-function DRLs, positioning lamps, and directional indicators. On the sides, it provides rugged front lines coupled up with dynamic character lines, automatic ORVMs, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Other design highlights include a smart powered tailgate, LED fog lamps, LED illuminated rear license plate, dual-tone roof rails, and chrome window surrounds.
The Gloster SUV will be loaded with all the bells & whistles. It gets a segment-leading 12.3-inch HD touchscreen system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, captain seats, 64 colors ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. The SUV also gets 3D maps from MapMyIndia which includes COVID testing center locations in maps apart from various alerts like potholes and speed alerts. Other feature list includes Apple Watch Connectivity and Gaana app with voice control. The SUV also comes fitted with a PM 2.5 air filter in the cabin.
Talking about the interiors of the Ford Endeavour, it gets premium door insert fabric and seven leather upholstered seats. Other features include 8-way power-adjustable driver and co-passenger seats, panoramic sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen advanced sync 3 infotainment unit integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, premium 10-speaker audio system with a subwoofer power amplifier, vehicle connectivity with Ford pass, multi-function steering wheel with audio and voice controls.
While the Mahindra Alturas G4 gets luxurious interiors. The cabin boasts of Tan and Black Nappa leather upholstery. The luxury SUV comes equipped with a host of features that include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch color TFT-LCD supervision cluster, electronic parking brake with auto-hold technology, 8-way powered driver seat with memory profile, easy-access mode, and first-in-class ventilated seats.
MG Gloster comes packed with best-in-class safety features. These include blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, drive fatigue reminder system, Hill Start Assist system, lane departure warning system, speed sensing auto door lock, roll movement intervention, 6 airbags, and adaptive cruise control.
Talking about Ford Endeavour, the safety kit comprises of 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Launch Assist, cruise control, Electronic Stability Control with rollover stability & traction control, Hill Descent Control, tyre pressure monitoring system and front parking sensors.
The Alturas G4 comes equipped with a host of safety features that include first in class 9 airbags including knee, side, and curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) which includes Brake Assist System (BAS), Active-Rollover Protection (ARP), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and ISOFIX child seat mounts in the 2nd row.
MG Gloster will be powered by a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that will churn out 215 bhp power and 480 Nm torque. The SUV will feature an on-demand four-wheel drive (4x4) system as standard. While Ford Endeavour is powered by a 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine. The engine delivers 168 bhp power and 420 Nm torque while being mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Mahindra Alturas G4 is powered by a BS6 compliant 2.2 -litre D22DTR diesel engine that belts out 178 bhp power and 420 Nm torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
MG Gloster is offered in 4 vivid shades namely Agate Red, Metal Black, Metal Ash, and Warm White. While Ford Endeavour is available in three color options Diamond White, Absolute Black, and Diffused Silver. Mahindra Alturas G4, on the other hand, is available in five bold and beaming colours namely Regal Blue, Lake Side Brown, D Sat Silver, Napoli Black, and Pearl White.
