MG Hector and Hector Plus SUVs Price Surged

MG Motor has raised the price of the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs once again. The Chinese-owned British automaker had already increased the price of the Hector SUV twice. It is the best-selling model for the company in India. Within a period of one year, this SUV is rivaling the likes of the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, and more. The company last increased the price of the Hector SUV in August of this year. The price of the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs has been raised to INR 40,000.

The new MG Hector was launched in January during the 2023 Auto Expo at a starting price of INR 14.73 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Hector Plus SUV was unveiled at a price of INR 20.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hector comes in both diesel and petrol versions, and it is available in six variants known as Smart, Smart Pro, Savvy Pro, Sharp Pro, Shine, and Style. After the recent price increment, the Hector SUV will be available at an initial price of INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the top-end Savvy Pro model will come at a cost of INR 22 lakh (ex-showroom).

The MG Hector Plus SUV comes in both 6 and 7 seating arrangements. The price of the six-seater Hector begins at INR 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom), and for the top-end variant, the price rises to INR 22.73 lakh (ex-showroom), while for the seven-seater, the prices will remain the same.

The price of both diesel and petrol variants has been raised by the company. The price rise for the petrol variants ranges from INR 27,000 to INR 35,000, whereas the diesel models saw a price hike of INR 30,000 to INR 40,000. Among other models, the Smart Pro variant that comes with a diesel powertrain will now be more expensive.

The 2023 Hector and Hector Plus were launched with an upgraded front design. The Hector received better updates, like the new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 2-Level ADAS technology. The Hector SUV is powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol hybrid, and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The transmission options in the engine incorporate six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
