MG India finally reveals features of upcoming SUV Hector in India.

MG has already started running adverts for their upcoming Hector SUV in India, and its launch date is nearing now. The auto sector in India is abuzz with the entry of Chinese-owned British brand in India. There have been numerous leaks about MG Motor’s first car in India, and the people have already become familiar with a lot of details of the upcoming Hector SUV. The upcoming car will lock horns with Mahindra XUV 500, Jeep Compass, and Tata Harrier in the Indian market.

It was expected that the upcoming Chinese-owned British brand will stuff the Hector SUV with features to the brim and now the company has presented the car’s features and exterior looks in an official capacity. The package includes many segment firsts and segment leading points. Perhaps the major attraction is the iSmart system that offers cloud based connectivity in the Hector.

MG Hector will come with an inbuilt Airtel eSIM with the upcoming SUV ready to adopt the 5G technology. This extremely advanced feature will equip the MG Hector to get updated via the eSim, just like the technology used in the smartphones. iSmart technology will be a standard feature of all the upcoming MG cars in the future. The upcoming MG Hector will also be equipped with a 10.4-inch portrait-oriented infotainment system featuring a few pre-installed apps.

On the occasion of feature reveal, President and Managing Director of MG Motors India Rajeev Chaba said,

“The integration of internet with cars opens up a gamut of features that can ensure a seamless and updated ownership experience for MG customers in India. With an embedded SIM card and OTA, the MG Hector promises to do a lot more over time with constantly-expanding capabilities, to create a seamless driving experience, throughout the life of the car. Furthermore, with the advent of 5G connectivity in India, MG cars will have the potential to add new, breakthrough features to further enrich the car driving experience,”

Just like other cloud based services in cars, MG Hector’s iSmart feature too will provide the owner with real-time data about the vehicle on their smartphones. Other features of the iSmart system include tyre pressure monitoring, geo-fencing, live location tracking, door lock/unlock feature, ignition on, starting the air-conditioning system without even entering the vehicle. The app linked to iSmart feature will also let users access service history data at their convenience. The cloud service used to store and facilitate the information will be the Microsoft Azure Cloud, hence providing the users an added layer of security.

MG Motors is also focusing on the customer experience with their upcoming SUV, and will roll out the unique Pulse Hub customer management service. Under this feature, the customers can set up numbers to receive an update in case of an emergency, and the system will also inform emergency services in that case.

MG Hector is supposed to come equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, and paired to it will be a 48V mild-hybrid system. As far as the output of petrol engine is concerned, it will produce 143 Bhp. The mild-hybrid feature will equip the SUV with extra 20 Nm of torque aimed at improving the low-end torque of the SUV. As is the case with many other mild-hybrids, the one on Hector too will come with a regenerative braking system to recharge the battery during braking.
