MG Motor India is preparing themselves to launch the much-awaited Hector Plus SUV in the market this month. With bookings commencing from today at a token amount of Rs 50,000 across all the MG authorised dealerships, the 6-Seater SUV will be offered in 3 variants namely Super, Smart and Sharp. MG Hector Plus was showcased for the first time during this year's Auto Expo in both 6 and 7 seater options. However what we do know is that the 6-seater version would be the first to hit showrooms.
In comparison to MG Hector, the Hector Plus will feature refreshed exterior and interior design. Starting with the exterior, the MG Hector Plus gets split headlamps, a new grille and a revised bumper with skid plate upfront. While the rear stands to provide a set of new tail lights and a refreshed bumper.
Coming to the interior, the biggest change from the Hector is that this one is a 6-seater to begin with. The MG Hector Plus cabin will stand to provide a dual tone interior, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate controls, ambient lighting and captain seats for the second row. Most likely the SUV will be offered with a brown leather upholstery. It will also get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360 degree camera, multi-function steering wheel along with AC vents and USB port for the third row of seats.
As for the engine options, identical to MG Hector, the Hector Plus will be offered with both petrol and diesel powertrains. The petrol model will be fitted with a 1.5 litre turbo unit delivering a maximum power output of 143 bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission along with no manual gearbox. It is expected that the petrol manual hybrid engine will only feature in the Hector Plus Sharp variant. While for the diesel, there will be the 2.0 litre turbo engine on board that will provide a power output of 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty will be carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
MG Hector Plus will be the third product to be introduced by the company after the launch of Hector and ZS EV. Since this SUV is bigger than the 5-seater version (MG Hector), the Hector Plus 6-Seater is expected to be around Rs 1 lakh more expensive. When introduced into the Indian market, it will go up against the likes of Toyota Innova and upcoming Tata Gravitas in the segment.
