MG Motors who just announced their retail numbers (3130 units) for the month of January have stated that they would be introducing an all-new premium SUV at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020. Going to be called MG Gloster, this SUV would be the third offering after the MG Hector and MG ZS EV by SAIC Motors owned British brand. Expected to be in the price range of Rs 40 - 50 lakhs (ex-showroom), the Gloster is based on the Maxus D90. It is likely to be offered in a long-wheel base version while the seating configuration could be a 6-seater as well as a 7-seater.
Exterior design elements on Gloster would include projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a bold front grille, roof rails, 21-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights. While the cabin will provide a panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and premium upholstery.
Powering MG Gloster SUV is believed to be a turbo-diesel engine that would be capable of producing 215 Bhp with 480 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are expected to be carried out by an 8-speed auto gearbox. In the Indian market this SUV will compete against Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. However, having said that, we expect the price of MG Gloster to be on the higher side in comparison to the other two SUV's
