MG Motor India will be launching the ZS EV Facelift in the Indian market on the 8th of February 2021. The updated EV is expected to offer new features as well as cosmetic updates on the exterior. One should not hope for any major design changes with the biggest upgrade being MG's updated i-Smart connected car system. The smart technology is seen in the recently launched Hector Facelift which arrived in the country in January 2021. MG ZS EV was launched last year and since then it has sold over 1,000 units till date. With an eye on the lucrative and fast-growing EV segment, MG is bringing the new ZS EV Facelift to the domestic market.
The facelifted version will rival the likes of Tata Nexon EV and Hyundai Kona. The current model retails at a starting price of Rs 20.88 lakh (ex-showroom), India.
Indian customers can look forward to features like projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, among others. It will ride on a set of 17-inch machined alloy wheels. The updated MG i-Smart system will respond to 'Hinglish' voice commands. According to the automaker, this is a segment-first feature. The system would be able to understand 35-odd Hinglish commands such as 'Hello MG, AC chalao', 'Hello MG, sunroof kholo', 'Hello MG, Radio Bajao' and so on.
The electric four-wheeler houses a 44.5 kWh IP6 certified battery pack under the skin. It powers a synchronous motor delivering 141 bhp of maximum output and 353Nm of peak torque. The current battery offers a maximum range of about 340 kms on a single full charge. The EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds. There are three driving modes and three levels of regenerative braking in the current model. There is a good chance that MG might update the battery on the new ZS EV to deliver more range.
