The odd even rule in Delhi 2019 has been implemented again to check the increased rate of pollution in the city. This will continue from November 4 to November 15, timing from 8 am to 8 pm.

Delhi is famed to be one of the world’s most polluted cities. The pollution level in the city is already high but after Diwali and the crop burning phase by the farmers in Punjab, it has reached to an alarming state.

From the year 2015, to counter the growing menace of the pollution, Delhi government had launched the odd-even scheme. This year too, the city’s traffic has been regulated by the odd-even scheme.

But, what exactly is the odd-even scheme in Delhi?

As per the odd-even scheme, vehicles with registration numbers ending in odd digits like 1,3,5,7,9 can ply on Delhi roads only on odd dates. While the vehicles with license plates ending in even digits like 0,2,4,6,8 can be driven only on even dates.

The odd even rule in Delhi 2019 has been implemented from 8 am to 8 pm from November 4 to November 15, excluding November 10 (Sunday).

What are the penalties for the odd-even scheme offenders?

This time the government has decided to levy heavy fines on those who don’t follow the odd-even scheme.

Earlier, a fine of Rs. 2000 was imposed on the offender but this time the fine has been raised to as much as Rs.20,000 due to implementation of the new Motor Vehicle’s Act.

However, it is likely that the state government is likely to reduce the fines pertaining to the odd-even scheme.

Infact, there is some odd even rule in Delhi 2019 exceptions that allows certain type of vehicles to ply on the Delhi road irrespective of their number plates.
