The 2020 MG ZS facelift has recently secured a 5-star rating in the latest rounds of crash test. The ZS SUV tested by the ASEAN NCAP was the 1.5-litre ‘C+’ manufactured in Thailand and sold in the Vietnamese and Thai markets.
Talking about the score, the ZS facelift secured 44.82 points for adult occupant protection, 20.90 points for child occupant protection, and 15.28 points for Safety Assist Test. This further rounded off to a total score of 81 points. In the frontal offset test, protection for the driver and front co-passenger’s head and legs were rated good. However, protection for the driver’s chest was rated at marginal. The protection for the passenger’s chest and the knee was rated adequate. Furthermore, the ZS SUV provided good protection to the driver’s head, neck, and chest area in the side-impact crash test. The bodyshell of the car was also rated stable.
The base C+ variant of ZS was equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, ESC, and a seatbelt warning system with a retractor, pre-tensioner, and load limiter for the driver and co-passenger. In addition, it was also provided with side and curtain airbags which is only available as an option with the top-end trims.
Besides these, MG Motor will be launching a petrol version of the ZS for the Indian market anytime soon. At present, the ZS EV is on sale in the country. Furthermore, the company is all set to launch the MG Hector facelift in the country tomorrow. We even spied the SUV undisguised at the outskirts of Vadodara, Gujarat ahead of the official launch a few days back.
