Mahindra XUV300 Sells More Units Than Bolero in July 2019

Like all other carmakers in the market, Mahindra too is witnessing a slowdown in sales albeit the latest sub-4 metre compact SUV of the brand -- the XUV300 -- has been performing well. In fact the latest from the brand has been selling so well that the XUV300 has gone on to displace the brand's erstwhile top selling vehicle, Bolero for the month of July in 2019. Mahindra currently offers mostly SUVs and UVs in the Indian market with the eVerito and e2O Plus being the exceptions. For several years, Mahindra Bolero has remained the top-selling utility vehicle in the Indian market. However, that changed with the arrival of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Nonetheless, Bolero remained the best-selling vehicle from the brand in the Indian market. Last month, the all-new Mahindra XUV300, which was launched earlier this year replaced the Bolero as the best-selling vehicle from the brand.

Talking numbers, the sales figures for the XUV300 stood at 4464 for the month of July whereas the Bolero could only manage 4446 dispatches in the same month. To let you know, it is mostly the slowdown in auto industry that has impacted the Bolero's numbers as the SUV sold around eight thousand units in the March of this year. Meanwhile, the XUV300 has maintained a steady if not growing position in the market and has been averaging 4,000 units per month after it was launched in the market early this year.

Talking of Mahindra Bolero, despite being shortened for tax benefits, the Bolero still maintains its iconic look along with aggressive presence on the roads of the country. No wonder then that even after so many years in the market, the Bolero still pulls in very good sales numbers for the company, minus the recent slowdown courtesy the auto sector slowdown in India. Mahindra launched the safest Bolero ever earlier this year, which was launched to meet the new stringent BNVSAP norms. With the update, Bolero now gets ABS, driver-side airbag, speed alerts, reverse parking sensors and front passenger seatbelt reminder system as standard.

Coming to the XUV300, Mahindra XUV300 is offered in the market with 2 engine options, one is the 1.2L 3 cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that is rated to deliver 112 Bhp and 200 Nm, while the other is a 1.5L 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel unit rated to deliver 121 Bhp-300 Nm. The torque output of the diesel engine is the largest in the segment. The engine options comes paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox or an automatic option.
