In a bid to boost its Indian fanbase, MotoGP India has appointed Shikhar Dhawan, a former cricketer known for his amazing performances on the cricket field, as its new brand ambassador. Shikhar Dhawan has also appeared in a recent commercial for Eurosport, which is MotoGP’s official broadcaster. The famous Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is also a bike enthusiast, with a vast collection of top-notch bikes like the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy in his garage. His passion for bikes makes him an ideal choice for the MotoGP in India. EuroSport announced in a press release that the star cricketer will now bring his enthusiasm for racing to the new MotoGP campaign, known as ‘Face Kar Race Kar.’
The ‘Face Kar Race Kar’ campaign comprises the sport's relentless spirit of celebrating resilience. In India, the very first phase of the MotoGP sport was held at the BIC in Greater Noida last year. The 2024 Grand Prix of India was first set for September 20-22, but the dates have now been shifted. The Indian edition of the famous global motorsport race is now scheduled to take place at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in March 2025. As part of the partnership, Shikhar Dhawan will make appearances in several commercials promoting the MotoGP race in the country. Notably, one of India’s leading racing two-wheeler manufacturers, Yamaha, will become the title sponsor for MotoGP India.

Commenting on the recent development, the MotoGP India brand ambassador, Dhawan, said, "It feels like a full-circle moment for me, especially when I think back to my days riding my favorite bike through the streets of my hometown Delhi. What excites me most is the potential we have to introduce MotoGP to new audiences across India. Together, we aim to inspire and engage fans with the exhilarating world of MotoGP."
Previously, there were rumors that the 2024 MotoGP race would be canceled due to unpaid dues. Dorna, the co-organizer of the MotoGP sport in India, alongside FairStreet Sports and the UP government, was speculated to halt the second edition from the calendar. However, the Indian organizers have emphasized that the delay was caused by the general elections in India, and all financial commitments will be finalized by June.
