It was only recently that the Japanese maker Suzuki Motorcycles had launched the Gixxer SF 250 and the updated version of Gixxer SF in the Indian market and had also stated that it will bring out the naked version of Gixxer SF 250 in the market in the future. Now the brand has gone ahead and launched the naked version of Gixxer SF 250 by the name of Gixxer 250. The price for Gixxer 250 has been set at Rs. 1.6 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, and this is a price point which is higher than the Yamaha FZ25, a bike that will give the Gixxer 250 strong competition in the market. Gixxer 250 is a bike that is aimed at relaxed riding for cities as well as a light cruiser that is full of power. Just like the fully faired version, the Gixxer 250 is also based on the smaller Gixxer 155 albeit with a more beefed up body, new instrument cluster, and bronze casing for engine.
The underlying mechanicals of the Gixxer 250 remain the same as the one seen on the fully faired version of the bike and the Japanese two-wheeler still comes with a 250cc, air-oil cooled single cylinder engine rated to deliver 26.5 Bhp and 22.6 Nm. The fuel injected 4-valve head engine comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox. The absence of fairing on the bike takes its weight down to 156 kgs, which is a full 5 kg lighter than the Gixxer SF 250. This weight loss will make the bike more perky and swift on the roads.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch of the Gixxer 250 in the Indian market the head of Suzuki Motorcycle India, Koichiro Hirao stated,
In the last five years, Gixxer brand has become synonymous with Suzuki’s attributes of quality, style and performance. It is our constant endeavour to bring a fresh perspective and value to this brand. Today, we are thrilled to launch a stylish and powerful biking experience to our patrons in the form of the Suzuki Gixxer 250. This product is a true reflection of Suzuki’s legacy in developing high-performance motorcycles of superior quality, backed by cutting-edge technology. With this addition to the Gixxer portfolio, we look forward to ride upwards and continue the growth momentum.
All the mechanicals save for the design and naked fairing on the Suzuki Gixxer 250 remain the same as the fully faired sibling, and this includes the tyres, suspension, as well as the chassis. The Gixxer 250 also comes with dual channel ABS as standard. This bike will provide and option for naked bike enthusiasts who wanted a refined product with a Suzuki badge. Although, the latest from Suzuki will face stiff competition from established rivals in the market in the form of Yamaha FZ25 (Rs 1.34 lakh) and the KTM 200 Duke (Rs 1.62 lakh).
