Last week, we told you that Mahindra has set a timeline of February 2022 for the launch of the new-gen Scorpio SUV in the Indian market. Now, our friends at MotorOctane have acquired the first clear interior images of the upcoming 2022 Mahindra Scorpio. The spy-images suggest a radical departure from the current-gen model in terms of upholstery and equipment. The exterior styling will also undergo several updates while it will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with manual and automatic gearbox options.
The spy-images give a clear look at the upcoming SUVs centre console, infotainment system and instrument cluster. One can see that the centre console is finished in a piano black theme. The horizontally placed touchscreen infotainment system, compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, is surrounded by vertical AC vents on either side. Beneath the infotainment unit, the company has placed a plethora of physical buttons for music and phone related functions. Due to the presence of automatic climate control, it can be said that this particular variant of 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is a range-topping one. In addition, premium features like rotary dial for various driving modes and 4-wheel drive functions can also be seen in the spy-images.
Talking about features, the new-gen Mahindra Scorpio will gain a flat-bottom steering wheel and a new twin-dial instrument cluster with large MID. The SUV will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants will get a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo unit which will develop power output of nearly 150bhp. On the other hand, the diesel variants draw power from a 2.2L 4-cylinder turbocharged motor which churns out maximum power of 158bhp. There will be a choice of manual and automatic transmissions with both the petrol and diesel engines. Additionally, an all-wheel-drive (AWD or 4x4) system will also be available with the top-end variants. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio price could start at Rs 13 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
