New-Gen Honda City Bookings Open in India

The 5th Generation Honda City to go on sale by July 2020; booking can either be done online or via a dealership.

Honda Cars India is all set to launch the 2020 New-Generation City in July this year. Just two days ago, the company commenced the production of the sedan at its Greater Noida plant in Uttar Pradesh. Now it has officially opened the bookings of this upcoming model. Interested buyers can easily book the sedan online via the company’s official website at a token amount of Rs 5,000. Or they could reach out to the nearest dealership to do so by paying an initial amount of Rs 21,000. Once launched, the sedan will be competing against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, and Skoda Rapid in its segment.

Honda claims that New-Gen City is underpinned by a fresh platform that is lighter, rigid, and safer as compared to the current model’s platform. In comparison to the current-gen City, the All-New Honda City will be 109 mm longer and 53 mm wider, while being 6 mm shorter. However, it gets an identical wheelbase to the current City and a boot space of 506 litres. The car will come equipped with some of the first-in-segment features like the Alexa remote that is likely to be present only in the top-spec variants. Additionally, the sedan will also get the next-gen Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit (TCU) that will be available with more than 32 connected features. These features will comprise of vehicle position, door lock status, stolen vehicle tracking, geofence alert, auto crash notification & emergency assistance among others. Safety is synonymous in the case of 5th Generation Honda City as it has been given an ASEAN NCAP 5-Star Rating. Further, it comes equipped with 6 airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Honda LaneWatch™ Camera and many others.

All New Honda city

The All-New 5th generation Honda City will go on sale with two engine options. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that will produce 121 bhp power and 145 Nm torque. While the diesel variant will be propelled by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that will belt out 100 bhp power with 200 Nm of peak torque. The petrol unit will be linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox alongside a CVT as an option. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will be mated to only a 6-speed manual gearbox.
