Mahindra Thar first arrived in the Indian market way back in 2010, quickly becoming a popular off-roader for automobile enthusiasts. 2nd October 2020 is an important date in the automobile industry as the 2020 Mahindra Thar will be officially launched. As we await the introduction, few automotive designers are already loving the prospect of modifying the New Thar as per their design tastes and aesthetics. One digital rendering has just arrived and it’s breathtaking, to say the least. SRK Designs has imagined the Next-Gen Mahindra Thar as a 4-door SUV. The inspiration for the same comes from the iconic Mahindra Armada.
SRK Designs has taken the 2020 Mahindra Thar as the base for their modification and added 2 more doors. The designers transformed the 2-door Mahindra Thar to a 4 door SUV. The front grille of New-Gen Mahindra Thar has not impressed many automotive designers and SRK Designs are no exception. They have modified the front profile as per their liking. Further the design house have opted for a seven seat configuration a bit like what was there in the Mahindra Armada. New-Gen Mahindra Thar's interior already looks eye-catching but it coulde be improved further. This could be done by adding in some key elements like a larger infotainment screen, new leather upholstery among others.
If we talk about the performance, the New-Gen Mahindra Thar 4 door SUV is said to be equipped with the same engines as the 2020 Thar. The line-up would comprise of BS6 compliant 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel motor that churns out 130 bhp of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The new 2-litre mStallion petrol engine on the other hand will deliver 150 hp with 320 Nm of peak torque. Tansmission duties are handled by a manual and an automatic gearboxes.
