The traffic police in the Delhi-NCR will enforce lane discipline on the expressway to make sure that commercial vehicles stay in their designated lanes.

The traffic police in the Delhi-NCR region have decided to tighten their hold on disruptive drivers, which means that breaking lanes while driving on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway is now going to result in hefty fines. The traffic police of Delhi-NCR will enforce lane discipline on the expressway to make sure that commercial vehicles stay in their designated lanes. To enforce the new regulation, the police will deploy a specialized team on certain points that will be on duty at night as well.

As per the current rule, while driving on the Delhi-Gurugram expressway, drivers are advised to drive their commercial vehicles in the leftmost lanes. If someone drives in the first two right lanes, then on the first breach, they will have to pay a fine of INR 500, and on the second one, INR 1,500. According to a few reports, the new rules are being implemented, and they will begin at the Kherki Daula toll and end at the border with Sirhaul. They will apply to both sides of the expressway. The reports also state that DCP (Traffic), Virender Vij, said that news about the implementation of the new rule has already been shared with the transporters, and drivers have been asked not to inhabit the first two lanes on the right side of the Delhi-Gurugram expressway. Anyone violating this rule will be fined.

DCP Virender Vij had a meeting with other senior officials to spread the news about the introduction of the new rule and ordered traffic police to make sure no commercial vehicle breached the assigned lanes.

The enforcement of new rules to ensure lane discipline is necessary to make sure that traffic is smoother. Also, the new rule enhances road safety and reduces danger for other motorists as heavy commercial vehicles occupy more space in the right-most lanes, causing more traffic and endangering the lives of car owners. The passenger vehicles can utilize the center-most lane to manage the speed limit, whereas the right-most lanes are meant for overtaking.
