The car will be built on Nissan’s CMF-A platform.

The company’s All-New Sunny sedan will debut here sometime in 2018. Based on the new Micra hatchback (K14), this car will feature an extended wheelbase to enable more legroom.

Since this car will be a global model, it will be sold in both left- and right-hand drive markets alike (in some markets the car is known as the Almera or the Versa). The latest version of the V platform will underpin the car abroad, but the India-spec New Sunny will be built on Nissan’s cost competitive CMF architecture.

It won’t be as stretched as the current Sunny though. Nissan wants this car to have a good combination of space and agility to rival cars like Honda’s City. The group’s new 106hp, 1.5-litre petrol unit, launched recently on the Duster, will power the new car and it will be mated to Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT automatic gearbox. There won’t be a diesel option though.
