Tata Tiago has been a steady seller for the company since quite some time now. The company has also constantly updated the car in the market so that it remains a fresh choice, and on top of that, the maker also sells the Tiago in a lot of different variants so that the model line-up offers something to everyone. Keeping in mind the latest BNVSAP rules, the company has now equipped all the variants of Tiago with some standard safety features. For the uninitiated, the new rules of BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program) mandates a few safety rules that the makers have to follow and these came into effect on April 1, 2019. Therefore, Tata Motors has now equipped all the variants of Tiago with ABS, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder, and twin airbags. The updated models of Tiago will offer an increased level of safety to the driver as well as passengers in the car now.
The Tiago by Tata comes with a new and fresh design from the brand and this makes it a popular choice among the customers in the market. Perhaps this is the reason why Tiago is one of the most successful models in company’s line-up in the Indian market. The brand will also soon facelift the model in the market which will mainly be aimed at reviving the sales of the model as the numbers have been declining since some time. Not just the regular Tiago, but the body-cladding version of the hatch – NRG -- will also be facelifted in the coming times.
The upcoming facelift to the models will brings a few design changes and tweaks inside the cabin as well. Largely aimed at keeping the models fresh in the market for the coming time, there may be a feature addition here and there but the facelift will only be a minor one.
The upcoming BS-VI norms are also less than a year away and Tata Motors has already made clear that the upcoming norms will see the maker dropping diesel engines from the smaller cars in its line-up. This means that the future of Tata Tiago may hold only petrol engines as the diesel model will be dropped by the company. As of now, the petrol engine on the Tiago is a 1.2L unit that is rated to deliver 84 Bhp and 150 Nm. Tata also offers a turbo version of the same engine and that delivers 112 Bhp and 150 Nm. Meanwhile the 1.1L diesel engine is likely to face the axe for the reasons stated above. However, the diesel will be discontinued only in 2020 and diesel lovers can buy a diesel engine Tiago before the brand axes the model.
