Volkswagen has teased new electric Dune Buggy concept that will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show

Looks like the Volkswagen Beetle's design is coming back but in a new avatar. The German carmaker has recently teased an image which reveals the design direction of the new Dune Buggy which is powered by an electric motor. The new design is inspired by the original Dune Buggys of the 1960s and this concept will make its debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The electric VW Dune Buggy is based on the company's MEB platform which is specifically made for the group's electric vehicles. This architecture is being seen as a successor to the Beetle architecture. There is a lot of inspiration in the design from the Beetle such as the front profile with the typical circular shaped headlights and the curvy overall silhouette.

While the future of mobility is electric, the production car is expected to be full electric but the concept of the Dune Buggy might not transform into an actual one in the production form. The German carmaker might spawn an urban crossover with this concept or even more versions of it as the electric Dune Buggy won't bring much volumes to the company.
