Yamaha Motor India is working on a new motorcycle, FZ-X which is expected to be launched by mid-2021 in the country. Recently, a test mule of the bike was spotted undisguised on Yamuna Expressway. The image of the same has been leaked online. The leaked image reveals that the motorcycle will sport a more conventionally shaped fuel tank. A chunky strip of bodywork is seen running down the middle. Furthermore, it also gets a boomerang-shaped radiator guard which is quite different from the one seen on the FZ-V3. The new FZ-X will also get fork gaiters on the telescopic fork along with dual-purpose tyres. Other design elements expected to be present on the motorcycle include a circular full-LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, and turn signals with conventional lighting.
A few days ago, a government document was leaked online which revealed some specifications about the upcoming Yamaha FZ-X. As per the document, the bike will be powered by the same 149cc air-cooled SOHC engine that is present on the FZ-FI and FZS-FI motorcycles. The motor is tuned to produce 12.2 bhp power and a 13 Nm peak torque while being mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Talking about the suspension setup, the bike might retain the telescopic forks at the front and a 7-step adjustable mono-shock towards the rear. Braking duties will be taken care of by a 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear assisted by single-channel ABS.
Dimension-wise, the FZ-X will be slightly different from the FZS-FI. In terms of length, width, and height, the new bike stands at 2020mm, 785mm, and 1115mm respectively. The FZS-FI, on the other hand, is 990mm long, 780mm wide, and 1080mm tall. However, both bikes will share the same wheelbase of 1330mm. Besides these, the bike is likely to be priced the same as the FZ-Fi, which at present is offered at Rs 1.05 lakhs (ex-showroom).
